Katy Buckbee, Camp Faculty
Violin teacher Classical, Fiddle/Jazz, Suzuki
Katy has been teaching violin and fiddle lessons here in her hometown of Boulder since 1998. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music at the University of Colorado in 2001 and studied violin pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching) with the acclaimed William Starr and became a nationally certified Suzuki violin teacher. In her studies Katy has had the opportunity to observe many teachers, which offers her a wide perspective, motivates, and has encouraged her to develop clear ideas and personal teaching philosophies of her own. Although Katy grew up studying classical violin, in her adulthood she has discovered a love for fiddling. Katy emphasizes solid technique while she encourages her students to find what musical styles inspire them. Katy provides balanced opportunities that combine the acquisition of new skills with valuable life enriching benefits while having lots of fun in the process!
